What is EBOB?
The North Carolina Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) is a reading competition that encourages students to read a variety of genres and demonstrate their comprehension skills.  Teams of 12 elementary students  in grades 4 and 5 work together to read a selected list of books and answer detailed questions about them in a quiz-style competition. The program promotes teamwork, goal setting and good sportsmanship.  Schools first compete locally, and top teams can advance to district and regional levels.

Creekside Running Club strives to help our students set personal goals and provide the tools they need to meet and/or exceed their expectations!  We train after school for 8 weeks and run two 5k races in the Fall and Spring semesters!  Each local 5k race and community fundraiser supports causes such as cancer and diabetes research, autism awareness, and more.  Since 2013, we have trained to better ourselves and our community!

Our fourth- and fifth-grade Science Olympiad team explores a variety of STEM events through hands-on experiments, investigations, and engineering builds. Students work together to learn new skills, deepen their scientific knowledge, and put their abilities to the test in fun, challenging competitions.

The Creekside Elementary School Student Government Association (SGA) is made up of student leaders in grades 3–5, with two representatives from each homeroom elected by their peers. The purpose of our SGA is to empower students and nurture strong leadership within our school community. Throughout the year, these student leaders take part in monthly initiatives that support both our school and the wider community, such as organizing canned food drives, contributing to the Warm and Wooly Tree, greeting visitors at school events, recognizing staff, and running the Candygram fundraiser—and then voting on a local organization to receive the donation. These representatives are held to high expectations and truly embody what it means to be Cardinal Leaders at Creekside.
